Charter High School Computer Teacher

River City Education Services, Inc. (dba River City Science Academy) has one (1) opening available for the position of Charter High School Computer Teacher with the following qualifications:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in education, with a specialization in Computer Science or the foreign equivalent. Also requires one year of experience in the offered duties as a Charter High School Computer Teacher. Stated experience must include coaching students for Robotics Competitions. Additionally, requires an Educator's Certificate from the State of Florida Department of Education in Computer Science (grades K-12) as required per state law.
Job duties for the position include:
Instruct students grades 9-12 in computer systems, basic computer programming, digital design, and other relevant areas through lectures, discussions, and demonstrations. Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities, and prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate students’ progress. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests. Design interdisciplinary learning experiences that fulfill the State of Florida’s standards and are consistent with the school’s mission of providing a college preparatory education focused on science and mathematics. Deliver curricula by using innovative instructional methods such as project-based instruction, games, computer-enhanced activities, and other equipment and materials in order to supplement presentations and facilitate students’ learning. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations. Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among students. Confer with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators in order to resolve students’ behavioral and academic problems, to discuss students’ progress, and to determine students’ priorities and needs. Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of school programs. Confer with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning, following approved curricula. Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence. Coordinate, run, and coach high school robotics team. Provide instruction on underlying engineering and physics components at work within students’ robotics projects.
