This club is designed to prepare students to compete on our Science Olympiad Team.  Science Olympiad is a fun STEM program which consists of preparing to compete in 13 different events in the areas of building, engineering, mathematics, life science, earth science, and physical science.  Science Olympians will compete in both a local competition and a larger competition in Orlando.

 

*Please remember that Science Olympiad Club is by invitation only and that being in this club does not guarantee any student a spot on the Science Olympiad Competition Team.

The project-based activities included in the curriculum pack help build science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) knowledge while incorporating lessons in language arts. Working in pairs, your students will utilize their skills to create moving models, all while enhancing their creative and problem-solving abilities.  Students will have the opportunity to participate in a competition.

This class is a perfect mixture of fun and learning, using LEGO® WeDo™. Using LEGO® bricks, students build a dancing bird, a smart spinner, a drumming monkey, hungry alligator, music box, crane, and more. They also learn how to program and operate their creations using a laptop computer.

K-Kids is an international student-led organization providing members with opportunities to perform service, build character and develop leadership. Students are taking on the responsibility of running a K-Kids club as they plan and participate in community service projects. They assist the elderly with chores or organize community food drives.  The students serve their school, raising funds for sports equipment and extracurricular activities. In big and small ways, they're changing the world around them. But the most significant change happens in the kids themselves. Fee includes membership handbook, membership card, certificate and button.

Students will learn and practice choreographed dance routines in preparation for school performances. The cost of the club is free yet students will be asked to wear coordinating outfits for performances.

Soccer club will involve learning skills like juggling and dribbling. There will be individual, partner, and team competitions and games. Any skill level is welcome to join.

Children will engage in gardening in order to learn how to be eco-friendly while beautifying the school grounds by using a variety of gardening techniques. Children will learn about hydroponics, aquaponics and traditional gardening. Fruits and vegetables will be grown to teach children how we get the produce that we find in the stores.

Imagine it, build it, and make it go! Using LEGO MINDSTORMS Education EV3 Base Set and Software, students will explore the exciting world of robotics! Combining the versatility of the LEGO building system, a powerful microcomputer brick, and intuitive drag-and-drop programming software this adventure will have students creating robots on day one.

Students will explore the basic elements of fiction writing, including narrative, scene, character, and dialogue, as well as the habits necessary to grow as a writer. We will also write many types of poetry. Students will have an opportunity at the end to have one of their stories made into a book to keep. There is no fee for this club unless you decide to make a book.

RCSAES will be hosting a Brownie Troop.  If you are interested in getting involved in the Girl Scouts organization, this is your chance.  You will need to purchase a Brownie uniform piece.

 

*Looking for adults interested in leading or assisting with both a Daisy Troop for our K-1 girls and a Junior Girl Scout Troop for our 4-5 girls.  If you are interested, contact the front office ASAP.

In this class your child will learn discipline involving controlled breathing, prescribed body positions.  Yoga is used for health and relaxation.  All students must change in to work out clothes.  Students will not be permitted to do yoga in their school uniforms.  All students must bring a yoga mat and bottled water for class.
