Chess champion

nationalchampion

Quincy Jones,  RCSA’s ( 6th grade) own Chess champion has been playing since he was 4 years old.  In fact,  he won his first tournament at this same tender age!  This he accomplished after learning how to play only a month before.  Since then he has been in over 70 tournaments,  placing in the top 20 for all.

Quincy,  on November 14th,  2009,  representing RCSA,  took 1st place at the Annual Jacksonville Agricultural Fair.  He won all his matches to beat all competing schools.  Congratulations!  Quincy also met with a New York Chess Master in April 2010,  the game ended in a draw.  An incredible feat for such a young man!

All this success is no accident,  Quincy works very hard.  He practices playing Chess every day for 3 hours.  He studies some of the great Chess Grandmasters and their winning games.  He spends lots of time learning new openings and strategies.  Quincy hopes to become a Master before he graduates high school…………Best of Luck to you,  Quincy!
