Greetings from River City Science Academy. Your student has been chosen as one of the select few who have received an exceptionally high score on the PSAT. With this accomplishment comes great rewards, and this is why your child was chosen to attend the exclusive PSAT & SAT Summer Camp.
This camp highlights the importance of the PSAT and SAT through activities as well as much needed preparation for future testing and assessments. Many individuals overlook the importance of the PSAT and SAT, forgetting the fact that they are the leading decision factor in college acceptance and play an important role in obtaining the Bright Futures Scholarship. With this in mind, it is necessary to start preparing your child for these tests by helping them attain success through valuable programs such as this summer camp. This camp will offer the following activities:Â
River City Science Academy held its first STEM & Health Expo on Thursday, May 16th, 2013 from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM. This exciting, free, one day event featured Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics [STEM] and Health as educational opportunities and viable career paths.

We wish to congratulate our Seniors who have already received early acceptance letters to Colleges/Universities. We are still looking forward to seeing more and more acceptance letters as the days go by. These college bound students are a testimony to the success of our School and a great example for our underclassmen. The bar has been set high but we have all confidence in the partnership our Staff and Faculty have established with our Students and Parents to see all our students succeed in their higher educational endeavors. Way to go Senior Rockets! We are very proud of you, our first Graduating Class of 2013.

On April 13-14 Mrs. Rose, Mr. Rose, Mr. Raeford, Mr. Payne and Mr. Steinhardt accompanied 41 RCSA students to the 5th Annual PeaceJam Southeast Conference at Florida State University.

On Tuesday, April 2nd, a group of 7 of our students went to Tallahassee to visit the Capitol. We would like to thank Senator Aaron Bean for hosting us while we were there, meeting with us, and giving us a tour of the Senate.
Friday, March 22nd, Mayor Alvin Brown graced the RCSA Science Olympiad Team with a visit to his office. He spoke to the students as well as the Coaches who were present, and motivated them to continue on with the good job they began at the Regional competition, earning first place overall.

March 18, 2013 River City Science Academy welcomed another wonderful guest, member of the school board, the Honorable Paula Wright. She toured our school and talked with us about what is going on within the school board now.

February 28, 2013 was an exciting day for River City Science Academy as we were visited by a member of the Florida Senate, Senator Aaron Bean. He was greeted with warm welcomes on a chilly day before he spoke at an assembly for 6th and 7th graders.

RCSA’s 10th grader Mark Young is one of only two high school students ever to be accepted into the Science and Engineering Apprenticeship Program (SEAP) sponsored by the Office of Naval Research.

RCSA Invites ALL 5th graders to the Biggest Math Challenge of the Year!
The primary goals of the program are to stimulate interest and achievement in mathematics among 5th grade students throughout the Duval County area, and to provide recognition of outstanding young mathematicians, their dedicated teachers, and school.
February 25, 2013, Stacy Spanos, morning anchor for Channel 4, our local news station, visited River City Science Academy with a smile on her face, despite the rainy weather.

Last January 22nd the Honorable Becki Couch, District 6 Board Member, visited our School. She toured both our Elementary and Middle/High School campuses and spoke to our students in an assembly .Her many years in the classroom were visible in the rapport she was able to establish with our students.Here at RCSA we greatly value the visits from our DCPS Board Members because of their valuable impact upon our Staff and Students. The lessons they teach us and their mere presence let us know they not only care about the District at large but also about the individual student.
